A Dark Plan

It was the third day of the allotted time to choose the guardians he was going to send to this new world that the new comer had spoken of. He had only agreed with this Riptide’s senseless idea to disagree with Solare. The third day was coming to a close and Crescent hadn’t really given the guardian’s a single thought of who he would send.

They would have to be vicious, but loyal too. They would have to be good fighters and hunters… though not many of them should go. About three would do. Many of the Dark guardians had already gotten ready for bed, not much of a time to announce such things, but it had to be done before dawn tomorrow. His eyes rolled over towards the entrance as the last patrol, before a switch entered the camp.

With that signal he almost bounced with a smile over towards mound of dirt which he would stand upon. He stood there for a moment as he looked at them all. “All gather around for a meeting.” He said as regally as possible.

Chikku sat up from where she had been preparing to go to sleep. She was normally a dutiful sub-leader, but recent events had put her in something of a slump and anything she did get around to doing, she did half-heartedly, but at least she had started being able to walk by the clearing where Rock had been murdered without wanting to start crying again.

Even so, she dutifully took her sub-leader's position near at the base of the mound.

Trigger hadn't really planned on sleeping tonight. Aa recent threat from Rinn and Riyu had him on edge -even more so than usual- and he could go a night without sleeping. what was the harm? Maybe if he got really tired he'd wander off into the forest and sleep in a clearing somewhere. as long as he came back in the morning with prey -although he had had difficulty hunting recently because whenever he tried, he would imagine Flutter getting upset and he would feel guilty afterwards, even if he didn't eat it, which he rarely did- No one would mind.

And maybe if he was really lucky, that rogue that had everyone acting weird recently might come and kill him in his sleep.

When Crescent called for a meeting he sighed and got up from where he had been trying to hide or maybe disappear completely in a corner and went to go sit at the back of the group of guardians, noticing his sisters go to take a place near the front.

Firefly and Star had been talking with each other when they heard Crescent. Star instantly perked her ears and hurried to get a good place in the crowd, while Firefly followed at a slower pace. Kurayami took her time and took up a place near the back, curiously waiting to hear what the leader had to say.

Crescent wiggled his nose before he spoke. “As some of you may know, I got together with the other leaders three days ago.” He began look over them all with bored eyes. “We discussed a new land. A land that was told to us by a visitor of sorts. In turn, we will be sending a small group of you to this land.” He paused for a long moment before continuing on. “I have thought long and hard about this, who I will send, but before I go on about them… I am opening up a slot for those who would like to volunteer to go.”

(Rofl, I know both Star and Firefly would volunteer, but I have plans for Firefly on Fairedin, so she can't go. Star will be going because-- I JUST ERASED A BUNCH OF STUFF BECAUSE IT'S A BUNCH OF PLOT-RELATED SPOILERS. ...Anyways. ALL I'M SAYING IS DENY FIREFLY. xD)

Firefly perked her ears and thought to herself, A visitor? From a new land? Maybe they know how I could manipulate my element... If not at least I might gain the respect of the alliance. With that she stood up and promptly called, "I would like to volunteer!"

Star looked to her friend. Her eyes sparkled with the thought of a new land to discover and explore. If Firefly volunteered then she would, too. Looking back to the leader, she stood up, and shouted with excitement, "Me, too! I can be helpful!"

Crescent smiled as the two volunteered. “Well thank you for volunteering, but we need only one to go. We can’t send too many. With that said, Star, You will be going.” His eyes beamed at her. “Now for the leader, I will be sending someone I can trust and hopefully those who go with him, will as well. Trigger!”

Trigger's stomach lurched. He had barely been paying attention, sure this meeting wouldn't affect him in the slightest. Why would Crescent choose him? He was cowardly, mal-nourished, and all together too...nice! His own thoughts were echoed nicely by Riyu when her offended hiss was heard from near the front "WHAT?!" Trigger wanted to say something, insist he couldn't go! Fake sick if necessary! It crossed his mind for an instant that if he refused to go, it might be an excellent opportunity to get himself banished from the alliance of the night. He didn't need to, however, as Riyu continued with
"Father! How could you choose him? He's an embarrassment to our whole alliance- no, actually- our species!" Trigger was glad she was defending his argument, whether she knew it or not, still, that was pretty harsh. Nothing not to be excpected from his sisters, though.

Crescent's eyes fell on his daughter. "My desicion is final." He said with a straight face, "now if anyone has any issues you may talk to me later." He said leaving the dirt mound as if he were dissminssing them.

Star squealed with delight, but made sure it was quiet enough so only the ones closest to her could hear. Firefly looked a little crestfallen as she looked to her friend, but looked back and waited patiently for the meeting to be over. The argument between father and daughters seemed to go right over her head, and apparently Star's as well.
Star, as soon as Crescent left the mound, began to make her way through the crowd towards Trigger. As she reached him she skidded to a halt and said happily, "Hey there, brave leader of the group to the new land! Oh.. we should probably come up with a shorter name for our group... But, hey! Isn't this exciting?!"

(...I just realized that Star is basically Nyx as a cat.)

Trigger was busy trying not to panic. He was trying to convince himself that being chosen to go to the new continent was a good thing. Besides, maybe if I'm really lucky, I'll be able to slip away from the group without being noticed adn get hopelessly lost and die.

He had only just managed to catch his breath when Star hopped up to him. He looked at her with wide eyes.
"...B-brave WHAT of our group?!" He almost shrieked, having missed that part of Crescent's speech. He caught himself and looked around nervously before continuing more softly. "...Oh, no no no no nonononononononono. I can't be the leader! I-I'm t-too shy! I-I can barely talk to guardians from this alliance! I-I'll screw everything up! Please, please, please! You be the leader!"

Star cocked her head at him with a blank smile, confused by his reaction. As he finished she giggled and replied, "I can't be leader, silly, Crescent chose you!" She then paused before gasping and adding, "But I could act like the leader if that's an order from the real leader! Is it?! Oh, that'd be so much fun!" She hopped up and down with excitement.

Trigger blinked slowly at her before shaking his head quickly.
"Yes! Yes! A-absolutely! Y-you be the leader!"
