Riptide is adventurous and loves to explore. He is curious of everything, and hopes to learn as much as he can about the world in which he lives. He may seem childish at times because of this, but he is actually a very strong, wise, and honorable leader. He often feels restrained, however, due to his position as leader of the Torrent Accord. Despite this, he still manages to find time for his favorite activity: exploring the depths of the ocean.

History
Riptide was born during the war of water and fire. His father, Breakwater, was cruel and strict, but his mother protected him so that his father didn't hurt him, but instead he would hurt her. Riptide's mother taught him to be kind, and although he was scared of his father and what he would do, his mother would always tell him he was very brave. When Breakwater killed his mother he tried his hardest to live up to what she always told him, and eventually gained the strength to face his father. He was able to overthrow him with the help of the water guardians who had grown tired of the war and his cruelty as a leader. With the blessing of all the water guardians who had helped him, he took his father's place as leader.
After which he tried to peacefully end the war through words alone, but it was not enough. With one last warning to the fire guardians, he offered a fourth of water guardian territory to the earth guardians in return for help in the war. They agreed, and the war finally came to an end with the surrender of the fire guardians.
Since then Riptide has managed the Torrent Accord with care and kept them away from any new wars, wishing only for eternal peace. To encourage such a dream, he has made his land open to all the species, so long as there is no fighting and bloodshed upon it.
